Learning to Play Fetch

March 18, 2011 | Dog Training | By Dogpal | 0 Comments

When your puppy is young, you will want to teach him to play “fetch” so that you can both have some fun as well as get in plenty of exorcise. The hallway makes a good training area for this activity since it is easier to corral your dog and keep him from wandering off – or you from running all over the house in a fun game of “see if you can catch me” while your dog manages to successfully run from one end of the house to the other. Plush toys or plastic balls with holes work well for this. Place the toy on a sturdy string and then toss the toy down the hall.  Once your puppy has the chase and pounce on the toy part down, you can then begin to train him to bring it back to you by giving him a small, tasty treat when he brings the toy back to you.
